Questions
- Which resolution should I pick?
- 150 dpi is the sensible middle, sharp on a screen and small enough to send. Use 72 for a quick look and 300 when the image is going to be printed.
- JPG or PNG?
- JPG files are smaller and fine for photographs and scans. PNG keeps screenshots, line drawings and text-heavy pages crisp, with no smudging around the letters, at a larger size.
- Can I still search the text afterward?
- No. An image is a picture of the words, so nothing in it can be searched, selected or clicked. Keep the PDF as well if anybody needs to copy from it.
