- Which format should I pick?
- WebP gives you the smallest file at the same visible quality. JPG is the safest for photos going into older software. PNG keeps a see-through background, which matters for logos.
- Will my picture look worse?
- To PNG, no, because every pixel is kept. To JPG or WebP, a little, and the quality setting decides how much. Start from the original file where you can, not a copy.
- What happens to a see-through background?
- PNG and WebP keep it. JPG cannot hold one at all, so those areas are filled with white or black, whichever you choose. Pick PNG or WebP if you need it.
