Add page numbers to a PDF
A report or a contract is easier to talk through when every page carries a number. Choose the corner, the style and the size, skip the cover if there is one, and download the numbered file.
Free, no account needed, and your file stays on your device.

In three steps
- 1Upload from device, or add several files at once.
- 2Choose position, number style, size and where counting starts.
- 3Select Add page numbers, then download the result.
What you get
Put it where you want it
Top or bottom, then left, center or right. The number sits the same distance in on every page size.
Cover pages stay clean
Leave the first page unnumbered and counting begins on page two, which is what a title page usually needs.
Nothing else changes
The numbers are stamped onto the document you opened, so its bookmarks and links keep working afterward.
Questions
- Can numbering start at something other than 1?
- Yes. Set Start at to any whole number, which is what you want when a chapter carries on from an earlier file or the front matter is counted separately.
- What if a number lands on existing text?
- It can happen when the pages already have a footer in that spot, and nothing underneath is erased. Check one page, then move the position or use a smaller size.
- Can I number a landscape page?
- Yes. Sideways pages are numbered along the edge you see on screen rather than the one the file calls the bottom, so a batch of mixed scans comes out right.
