Remove hidden details from a photo
Before a photo goes to a buyer, a client or a forum, you may not want it carrying where it was taken and what took it. This strips those hidden details and leaves the picture alone.
Free, no account needed, and your file stays on your device.
Drop files here
JPG, PNG and WebP. Up to 50 MB each, 50 files at a time.
In three steps
- 1Add the photos you want cleaned.
- 2Press Remove metadata. There is nothing to set.
- 3Download the cleaned copies.
What you get
The picture is untouched
Your photo is not redrawn or saved again, so a cleaned JPG looks exactly like the one you started with, only lighter.
It tells you what it found
Each result names what was present, location first, and a file with nothing to remove says so instead of pretending.
Photos stay upright
The one tag kept on purpose is orientation. Drop that and a phone photo can come back lying on its side.
Questions
- What exactly is removed?
- The recorded location, the camera and lens, dates and times, editing history, comments and embedded notes. The color profile and the upright tag stay, because dropping those changes how the picture looks.
- Does the photo stay on my computer?
- Yes. Cleaning a photo somewhere else to hide your home address from it would be a strange trade, so the work is done on your machine and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Do social networks not do this already?
- Most strip what they publish, but the file you handed them arrived complete. A photo sent by email, chat or a download link keeps everything, so clean it before it leaves.
