Shared credits for workspaces, plus handover and pictures

A workspace owner can pay for everyone's work with their own credits, hand the workspace to a member, and add pictures for profiles and workspaces.

A workspace is a shared place where a team works together in genvi. The owner can now turn on shared credits, so everything members generate there is charged to the owner's balance. You can also hand a workspace to another member, and add pictures for your profile and for each workspace.

Shared workspace credits

By default nothing changes. Everyone in a workspace spends their own credits. That works well when each person has their own plan. A client job or an agency often wants the owner to pay instead.
  1. Open Settings and then your workspace.
  2. Find Who pays for work here.
  3. Choose Pay for work here with my credits.
From then on, anything generated in a project in that workspace is charged to the owner. Choose Stop paying for work here and everyone goes back to spending their own credits. Only the owner sees this switch. Admins cannot use it, because it spends the owner's money.
A few rules keep it fair:
  • The workspace pays only for its owner and current members. Someone you removed cannot keep billing you by sending work to an old project.
  • A charge and its refund go to the same account. If a generation fails, the credits go back to whoever paid.
  • If genvi cannot tell which workspace a project belongs to, the person who pressed Generate pays.

Seeing whose credits you are spending

The credit balance now shows in all six studios. In a project in a workspace that pays, it shows the workspace's name instead of the word "credits". Hover over it to see whose account is paying. If the workspace has run out, members are told to ask the owner to add credits. They are not sent to a billing page where they could only top up their own account.

Hand over a workspace

Before, you could not pass a workspace to someone else. Now the owner opens Hand over this workspace, picks a member under New owner and confirms. You can only hand a workspace to a current member, so invite them first.
Handing over moves the bill too. If the workspace pays for work, the new owner's credits now pay for it. The screen says so, and so does the email the new owner gets. The previous owner stays on as an admin. genvi also now sends emails for invitations, role changes, ended access and ownership changes. Members can leave on their own with Leave workspace.

Profile and workspace pictures

Your account picture used to come only from Google sign-in, so if you signed up with an email address you had none. In Settings you can now choose Add picture (or Change picture, or Remove). The owner or an admin can do the same for a workspace. Pictures can be up to 8 MB, in PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF or BMP format. genvi resizes them to a 256 pixel square. The workspace picture shows in the workspace switcher, the menu where you change workspace.

What it costs

Turning on shared credits costs nothing by itself. It only changes whose balance generations draw from. Each model still has its normal price. The owner tops up on the usual billing page.
